Sealcoating
Crack sealing and sealcoating are well-known ways to help preserve existing pavement and avoid costly asphalt resurfacing. Repairing cracks early and using the proper procedures and sealant will add life to your existing surface.
- Hot rubberized sealant stays flexible and resilient in all kinds of climates.
- Bonds to asphalt or concrete and hardens quickly.
- Will not bleed through sealcoating or asphalt overlays.
Hamel also provides tennis court reconstruction and top coating.
Advantages
Several advantages exist to sealcoating your pavement.
Stops weather damage
Sealcoating prevents the damaging effects of oxidation and water penetration. The Asphalt Institute states “The accumulation of moisture in pavement structures is probably the greatest cause of pavement distress”!
Prevents oxidation
The sun’s ultraviolet rays harden and dry out the asphalt pavement surface. This accelerates raveling and erosion and can reduce asphalt thickness in just a few years.
Sealed vs. Unsealed
Unsealed: Oxidation dries out and deteriorates asphalt binder. Pavement loses flexibility and small cracks develop. Water, chemicals, etc. penetrate surface and pavement deterioration rapidly progresses.

Sealed: Sealant keeps out the damaging effects of oxidation and the elements, greatly extending the service life of the pavement while enhancing the appearance.

Resists gas, oil, and salt
Sealcoating resists the highly damaging effects of gas and oil seepage and all other road chemicals including alkalis and winter salt.
Beautifies pavement
Sealcoating restores original black color to asphalt and greatly enhances overall appearance of property. The smooth, even surface of sealed pavement makes sweeping, snow removal, and maintenance easier and less costly.
Our pavement sealer is rubberized for lasting wear and durability.
Sealcoating and Money
Sealcoating costs a little, but does a lot. A good sealer is common sense insurance for bituminous paved areas. Preventative maintenance is more economical than expensive repairs and replacement. The economy resulting from sealcoating is becoming increasingly recognized. Sealcoating applied at a cost of a few cents per square foot preserves for many years a surface which would cost many times the sealcoating cost to replace. New pavements last longer…old pavements are made to look like new.
